Stitch Fix #5 - January 2016

Stitch Fix #5 - January 2016

Before I begin, remember Stitch fix requires a $20 styling fee that will be deducted from any purchases and a 25% discount if you buy all five items.  Anything you do not wish to keep, you send back in a prepaid shipping bag.  So far I am 1 in 5 for purchasing all 5 items. If you are inspired by my blog or if I help you in any way, please use my stitch fix referral code when you sign up! Thanks! :)

Welcome 2016!

Like many, I made a small New Year's resolution, loose those the holiday five (the extra pounds put on over the last few months from the normal holiday relaxation with eating).  I decided to postpone my fix which was originally scheduled from early January to the end of the month.  I has also been ill for several weeks (colds, sinus infection), and I needed time to get back into a routine before I tried on more clothes.  Honestly, this was  good excuse to postpone the box since stitch fix is not cheap.

Waiting for the fix

I was more excited for this box than any of the others before it since I had received a $50 gift card to stitch fix for Christmas from my mom!  What a great gift and I did put it too good use, more on that later.  My anticipation for this fix also stemmed from my success with my last fix.  I was also hopeful that with my feedback and note to my stylist this fix might be even better.

It arrived! Fix #5 - the reveal

My anticipation with each fix is the same each time.  I do feel like a kid on Christmas.  When I opened the box, as usual, I really liked the colors and patterns I saw. I was also happy to see I was sent my very first accessory, a necklace.  Although I did keep an item from this fix, I will say right now I was very disappointed.  I felt that much of my feedback was not read or valued and that they did not read my style profile.  This is also a 4th time my stylist has changed. The main reason I felt my I was not listened to was embedded in the note from my stylist.  In short she referenced a Friday work outfit with jeans (I cannot wear jeans to work per the dress code and wrote this is my profile).  All the stylist had to do was change "Friday" to "weekend day" and I would have been 100% happy.  But please don't take this the wrong way, I'm still signing up for fix #6!

Margaret M Christina Printed Pencil Skirt (large) $78

I am almost embarrassed to include the picture of me in the skirt.  Pencil skirts have never been flattering on me, so I am not sure why I thought this one might work?  I really enjoyed the pattern. This seems to be the theme of my fixes lately - love the look but hate the fit or vice versa. The material was stretchy and light with an elastic waste band.

Verdict - Returned.

Moon and Sky Silverton Crochet Detail Knit Top (large) $58

In the same picture of me as the skirt, you'll notice the Silverton crochet knit top.  This top is another case in which I was disappointed with the stylist not paying attention to my feedback and profile.  Many times I have stated, and permanently in my profile, that I cannot have the tops of my shoulders showing.  Granted, the crochet is only see through, and not sleeveless.  So this one may be on me for stating that the only body part I would flaunt is my arms (I have changed this).   What I liked about this top was the color and fit.  The fabric was fantastic and it was very different from the tabbed shirts I normally get and keep from my fixes.  I actually may have kept this shirt if it did not have the tie around the neck in the front.  I have actually owned shirts like this and am never really sure what to do with the ties.  My stylist also asked me to pair this with the necklace. How do I do that? It probably is me that could not figure that out!

Verdict- Returned.

Bay to Baubles  Shellina Leaf Pre-Layer Necklace $28

The necklace was pretty, but just not my style. I do not like turquoise colored stone.  I also thought the leaf part was awkward on me.  Verdict - Returned.

Mavi Malin Bootcut Jean (size 12 ) $98

I really really wanted to love these jeans.  They fit good everywhere except my behind.  This cut of jean inspired me and the week after I sent these back (sorry for the spoiler), I found a pair of bootcut jeans for a third of the price at the mall.  Although, they are not the same quality, I cannot wear jeans at work, so they won't get worn out too soon.  The fabric of the Malin jeans was fabulous.  They were just not the perfect fit.  Verdict - returned.

Skies are Blue Neve Open Cardigan (large) $68

This piece came through!  The material has some acrylic in it which make it very warm for layering on a winter day.  This piece shows that my stylist tried to honor my request to include more items for winter.  The cardigan can be dressed up or down and is a nice addition to my winter wardrobe.  Verdict, if you did not pick up on it - kept.

There you have it! Fix #5 is in the books.  I increased the time to my next fix for many reasons, but am looking forward to it arriving in the early springtime!
